Many products require CE marking before they can be sold in the European Union.
This mark attests that the product has been assessed by the manufacturer and is deemed to meet EU safety, health and environmental protection requirements.
It is required for products manufactured worldwide and sold within the EU and is only mandatory for products for which there are EU specifications and which require CE marking.
Conformity assessment in some areas can be carried out directly by the manufacturer (or its authorised representative if the manufacturer is not resident in an EU country), but often has to be carried out mandatorily by a third party body authorised by the State and "notified" to the authorities of other EU countries, such as CSI.
This is the case for the more "complex" products covered by the following directives or regulations:
In this context, CSI issues the CE 0497 certification, identifying it as a notified third party body.
