CSI has developed a new certification scheme aimed at all those products intended to be reused several times during their life, assessing the maintenance of performance through specific laboratory tests such as resistance to product wear and, if relevant, verification of suitability for food contact in repeated contact mode.
The scheme is in fact aimed at all those products that fall under Legislative Decree 196/21, implementation of Directive 2019/904/EU "on the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment", (so-called SUP Directive) aimed at preventing and combating the phenomenon of "marine littering".
In order to obtain the "Reusable" label, the manufacturer must ensure that the following conditions of suitability are met under the conditions of its intended use:
for packaging
CSI issues the "High Performance Bag" product certification: a unique and innovative certification at European level, which introduces the concept of quality, in terms of performance, of bags based on their compliance with the specific applicable standards.
The evaluation criteria, depending on the type of product, concern shape, size, volume and above all the requirements (resistance to static, dynamic and tensile loads) that the bags must meet in order to perform adequately for their intended use.
The latter characteristics are increasingly requested by users of bags (e.g. shoppers), starting from large and medium-sized retailers, who are attentive both to the environmental requirements of such packaging and to its quality performance.
It is precisely the performance guarantees offered to users by this new brand that give manufacturers the opportunity to gain a competitive advantage and enhance the value of their products on the market.
The types of products considered concern both compostable and non compostable materials, for the transport of goods distributed to retailers and for waste collection.
The certifiable products are:
CSI has developed a scheme for the voluntary certification of a wide range of window accessories.
This scheme is currently designed for
Laboratory tests are carried out on these accessories according to the relevant technical standards in order to assess the conformity of the product in terms of process controls, components used. In addition, for high-performance products, over-testing against the classification dictated by the standard is also verified.
To obtain this certification, manufacturers submit their products to more stringent tests than those required by both the CE marking (mandatory by law for some accessories) and the reference standard, obtaining a certificate issued by a third-party body such as CSI, with a classification consisting of figures higher than the standard itself.
It is a certification for three categories of products for the building and construction industry:
Products that obtain this certification are able to guarantee the maintenance of very high quality as they are subjected to strict and frequent controls.
The reference standards used are the same as those applicable to CE certification, against which they have additional requirements for certain process parameters, which allow for higher performance.

It is a certification for doors and other closing elements that assesses the fire resistance of these products according to national and international reference standards.
The products that obtain this certification are able to guarantee the maintenance of very high quality standards over time thanks to the controls carried out that also comply with the regulations in force in Italy.
In addition to fire resistance characteristics through laboratory tests, specific aspects such as, for example, the absence of architectural barriers are also checked:
