The new RoHS or RoHS 2 directive, officially known as Directive 2011/65 / EC on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (recast), restricts the use of lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr6 +), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) in the manufacture of some of the electrical and electronic equipment sold in the European Union.
