Directive 2014/90/EU - MED - Marine equipment

CSI performs the reaction to fire tests required by the international legislation for materials to be used in the maritime field in the Community Directive 2014/90/EU (MED). The Directive on marine equipment provides for the certification for the purposes of CE marking and marketing throughout Europe of marine equipment used and fitted out on boats from European Union countries.

In order to ensure the compliance of such equipment with the regulations of the SOLAS International Conventions, common standards have been issued with reference to the regulatory references issued by the IMO (International Marittime Organization), with reference to the procedures for safety and compliance with the performance characteristics, in all countries of the European Community.

CSI is a "Notified Body" of the European Community through the recognition of the Italian Administration for the issue of CE Certificates for marine equipment; CSI is also recognized by the United States Coast Guard.

CSI as a Notified Body with number 0497, offers its experience in the sector with a complete testing and certification service for all the requirements required by Directive 2014/90/EU and subsequent amendments, with particular reference to fire reaction tests , toxicity and opacity of the fumes, in addition to the final release of the CE mark (rudder).
