Materials and Packaging Aging Test
Aging tests allow the simulation of the effect of atmospheric agents over the long term as a tool for the behavioral analysis of materials.
The instruments capable of simulating exposure to heat, sun rays, rain cycles and humid environments, including saline, of different types of materials have always been of enormous importance in various sectors, especially in those where technical performance and consumer guarantees are not yet regulated. Subjecting materials to accelerated aging tests is the only system that allows the manufacturer to have immediate feedback on the durability of the materials for preventive purposes.
Using this type of instrumentation (Xenon Weather-Ometer®, WOM Test and Solar Box) CSI is able to support all those who need to verify the performance or appearance of any material (internal and external coatings, automotive components, plastic and rubbery materials, fabrics) after aging carried out according to multiple conditioning profiles. The most requested standards for the conditioning of materials by simulating weathering or aging are:
- ASTM G151 Standard Practice for Exposing Nonmetallic Materials in Accelerated Test Devices that Use Laboratory Light Sources
- ASTM G155 Standard Practice for Operating Xenon Arc Light Apparatus for Exposure of Non-Metallic Materials
- ISO 105-B02 Textiles - Tests for colour fastness - Part B02: Colour fastness to artificial light: Xenon arc fading lamp test
- ISO 105-B04 Textiles - Tests for colour fastness - Part B04: Colour fastness to weathering: Xenon arc test
- ISO 105-B06 Textiles - Tests for colour fastness - Part B06: Colour fastness and ageing to artificial light at high temperatures: Xenon arc fading lamp test
- ISO 105-B10 New standard Textiles - Tests for colour fastness - Part B10: Artificial weathering - Exposure to filtered xenon-arc radiation
- ISO 4892-1 Plastics - Methods of exposure to laboratory light sources - Part 1: General guidance
