The RoHS Directive and its subsequent updates RoHS 2 and RoHS 3 limit the presence of hazardous substances such as lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr6 +), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) and some phthalates in electrical and electronic equipment and their constituent parts in order to protect both human health and the environment.
The directive applies to all Electrical and Electronic Equipment such as electric bulbs, household lighting, medical devices, measuring instruments, control and monitoring equipment.
